Payments & pricing

How your price is calculated
Your price is built up from several components that are shown to you individually in the price breakdown before you confirm. Here is what each one is:
- Base price
- Set by Quicksi based on your service type (standard, deep, or move-out), your home size (number of bedrooms) and where the home is — prices vary by city, and your booking is priced from its address.
- Condition adjustment
- An additional percentage added if you select a higher condition level (Needs attention or Heavy clean). Reflects the extra time required.
- Extra bathrooms
- A fixed surcharge per bathroom beyond the standard number included in your size bracket.
- Add-ons
- Optional extras you select — such as oven cleaning, fridge cleaning, or windows. Each has a fixed price shown in the app.
- Recurring discount
- Subtracted automatically on weekly or fortnightly bookings. Shown as a saving in the price breakdown.
- Same-day surcharge
- Added when you book for the same calendar day. Shown clearly before checkout.
- Sunday or public holiday
- Added when the clean starts on a Sunday or a public holiday in your state. Only one applies — the higher one — and it goes in full to your cleaner.
- Connection fee
- A fee for finding you a cleaner, charged on top of the job total: 9% of the job, from $9.95 to $34.95. It drops away on a repeat clean once your cleaner agrees to be your regular. See Connection fee below.
All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD).
When your card is charged
Quicksi uses a two-step payment process — authorisation first, capture only after the job is confirmed. This protects you if something goes wrong.
- At booking
- A card authorisation (hold) is placed on your card for the full booking amount. This reserves the funds but does not charge you. You may see it as a pending transaction in your bank app.
- After the clean
- Once you tap Confirm & release in the app — or after 24 hours if you don't respond — the authorisation is converted into a real charge and your cleaner is paid.
- If the hold needs renewing
- Banks only hold a card payment for about a week. If your clean is further away, or a report about it is still being reviewed, we renew the hold on the same card for the same amount — the old one is released, so nothing is held twice. If it can't be renewed, we ask you to confirm your card; if that isn't done in time for a clean that hasn't started, the booking is cancelled and nothing is charged. For a clean already done, we take the payment before the hold lapses and keep it until the job is confirmed or your report is decided — a refund is still possible.
- If the job is cancelled
- The authorisation is released. No charge is made. Your bank decides how quickly the pending amount disappears from your statement — usually a few business days.
Connection fee
In addition to the job total, Quicksi charges a one-off connection fee for matching you with a cleaner: 9% of the job, from $9.95 to $34.95. It is shown in your price breakdown before you confirm, so there are no charges after you book that you have not already seen.
Because it is a percentage, it grows smoothly with the job — an extra you add costs its own price plus the same small share, never a sudden jump. It is set when you book and does not change afterwards, even if the price of the job changes later. Some examples:
| Job total | Connection fee | You pay |
|---|---|---|
| $100.00 | $9.95 | $109.95 |
| $150.00 | $13.50 | $163.50 |
| $200.00 | $18.00 | $218.00 |
| $300.00 | $27.00 | $327.00 |
| $400.00 | $34.95 | $434.95 |
Small jobs pay the minimum of $9.95, and the fee never goes above $34.95 however large the job is.
What the fee pays for
Finding you a cleaner is the work the fee covers. When you book, we search vetted independent cleaners near you, rank them on distance, rating and availability, send out offers, and keep going until someone accepts. On top of that it covers secure payments and the authorisation hold, customer support, and fraud protection.
It is not passed to your cleaner. Your cleaner is paid from the job total, and their payout is exactly the same whether the connection fee applies to your booking or not.
When you are charged
The connection fee is only charged when a cleaner actually accepts your booking. When you confirm, we place an authorisation hold on your card for the full amount including the fee — but that is a hold, not a charge, and the money only moves after your clean.
- No cleaner accepts
- The fee is not charged. The whole authorisation is released and nothing is taken from your card.
- You cancel before a cleaner is confirmed
- The fee is not charged. The authorisation is released in full.
- Your cleaner cancels and we cannot replace them
- The fee is refunded along with the rest of the booking.
- Quicksi cancels your booking
- The fee is refunded in full.
How to stop paying it: set up a regular clean
Quicksi matches every booking to a cleaner for you — you do not pick one yourself, and we cannot promise that any particular cleaner will take any particular job. That means a one-off booking always involves a full search, and always carries the fee, even if the cleaner who accepts turns out to be someone who has cleaned for you before.
A repeat clean works differently. When you set one up, we invite the cleaner from that job to become your regular cleaner. If they accept, they go to the front of the queue for every clean on your schedule — and because we are no longer searching for someone new, the connection fee drops away entirely.
Two things to know about the waiver. It applies from the second clean onwards — the booking you set the schedule up from is a normal booking and carries the fee. And if your regular cleaner is unavailable for a particular week, we have to run a full search to cover it, so that occurrence carries the fee like any other search. Your regular cleaner taking the following week's clean is fee-free again.
You do not need to claim any of this. When your cleaner accepts, the fee is removed automatically and the amount charged to your card drops.
If the price of your job changes
The connection fee is locked in when your cleaner is confirmed. If the price of the job changes afterwards — your cleaner requests an on-site adjustment, or you extend the booked hours — the job total moves but the connection fee does not, even if the new total falls into a different band.
Counter-offers from your cleaner
After being matched to your booking, a cleaner may submit a counter-offer — a request to complete the job at a higher price than listed. This can happen when a cleaner reviews the booking details and believes the scope is larger than the listed price reflects.
A counter-offer must always be higher than the original price — a cleaner cannot offer to do the job for less than the listed amount.
When you receive a counter-offer notification, you have two choices:
- Accept
- Your card authorisation is updated to the new amount. The booking proceeds at the counter-offer price. You are not charged the extra amount until after the clean is confirmed.
- Decline
- Nothing changes: your booking stays open at the original price for any cleaner to accept. The cleaner who proposed it hasn't accepted the job, so we keep looking.
On-site price adjustments
In some cases, a cleaner may arrive and discover the property is in significantly worse condition than described, or that the scope is materially larger than the booking indicated. In this situation, once they have checked in, they may request an on-site price adjustment with at least two photos, before carrying on.
You will receive a notification and a text message with the requested new price, the photos and the cleaner's reason. You can approve or decline from the booking detail page — in the app, or in your account on the web. If you don't answer within 30 minutes, the request is treated as declined and the price stays as agreed.
- If you approve
- Your card is re-authorised at the new amount. The cleaner proceeds. You pay the adjusted price, confirmed after the clean is done.
- If you decline
- The cleaner may choose to complete the job at the original price, or to withdraw. If they withdraw, no cancellation fee applies to you and we look for another cleaner; you can also cancel at that point with nothing charged.
The best way to avoid on-site adjustments is to select an accurate condition level and include detailed notes when booking — for example, noting if the oven is heavily soiled or if there are areas that need extra attention.
Cancellations & refunds
Whether you get a refund and how quickly depends on when and why the booking is cancelled. Two things are true of every cancellation: you are never charged the full price of a clean that did not happen, and any cancellation fee goes to your cleaner, not to Quicksi.
Which schedule applies depends on how much notice you gave when you booked, not only on when you cancel.
If you booked 24 hours or more ahead
| When you cancel | Cancellation fee |
|---|---|
| Before a cleaner accepts | Nothing at all — the connection fee is returned too |
| More than 24 hours before | None |
| 12–24 hours before | 25% of the job total |
| Under 12 hours before | 50% of the job total |
If you booked at short notice (under 24 hours)
You can book a clean as little as 90 minutes ahead. Under the schedule above, that booking would sit in the most expensive tier from the moment you made it — before you had any chance to change your mind. So a short-notice booking is measured by how far your cleaner has actually got, not by the clock:
| When you cancel | Cancellation fee |
|---|---|
| Before a cleaner accepts | Nothing at all — the connection fee is returned too |
| Within 30 minutes of your cleaner accepting | None |
| After that, before they set off | 30% of the job total |
| Once they are on their way | 60% of the job total |
The 30-minute window ends early if your cleaner sets off before it runs out — at that point they are travelling to you and there is a real cost to them. You are told at checkout when a booking is short notice.
- Your cleaner cancels
- Full refund including the connection fee, and no cancellation fee to you. Quicksi will attempt to find you another cleaner. If a replacement cannot be found in time, your authorisation is released in full.
- Your cleaner doesn't turn up
- Once check-in closes (two hours after your start time) you can have another cleaner at a new time on the same booking — same price, same card hold, nothing held twice — or cancel for a full release of your hold. See What if my cleaner doesn't turn up? in Managing your booking.
- Your cleaner couldn't get in, or the home wasn't safe
- They report it in the app with a photo and we text you. If you agree — or don't answer within 24 hours and they were verified at the address — the booking is cancelled with a fee of 60% of the job paid to them, the connection fee is kept and the rest of your hold is released. If you disagree, Quicksi decides and nothing is charged meanwhile (Terms 7.5).
- You paid partly with account credit
- Your credit is returned in full on any cancellation, including one where a fee applies. The fee is taken from your card, never from your credit.
- No cleaner found
- If Quicksi cannot match a cleaner to your booking, your card authorisation is released automatically. You are not charged.
- Dispute outcome — your favour
- If a dispute is resolved in your favour — for example, the clean was not completed — Quicksi will issue a partial or full refund at its discretion.
If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, contact us at support@quicksi.com.au with your booking reference.
Payment methods
Quicksi accepts credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard and American Express — through Stripe, our secure payment processor.
Your card is never stored by Quicksi. Stripe keeps it on file in its PCI-compliant vault, only so the hold on your booking can be renewed until the clean is done (see below). You enter your card when you confirm a booking, and can use a different card for each one.
